Fact Data Sheet > SuperPly

RFP’s Superior Sanded Plywood Product: SuperPly is a newly developed product designed for superior appearance and traditional application.  As a proprietary performance-based panel, SuperPly meets the same criteria as exterior sanded panels under U.S. National Standards PS 1-95.  These standards include grades of veneer, glue bond durability, thickness requirements, testing procedures, finished plywood tolerances, identification and stamping guidelines, etc.  All RFP manufactured plywood is inspected and certified by APA, a nationally and internationally recognized and accepted testing organization.

Visual Properties: SuperPly maintains an ultra-smooth patch-free face, unlike other sanded fir or southern pine plywood.  SuperPly’s face veneer offers a fine-grain pattern that minimizes checking and splitting, and a color consistency ideal for painting and finishing.  Along with these characteristics, SuperPly has exceptional strength and stiffness for a wide range of uses.

Glue Bond Durability

PTL/PSI initially performed strenuous tests on Breckenridge Siding for glue durability, including a 9-cycle boil test.  Currently, APA performs routine vacuum and 2-cycle boil tests on Breckenridge Siding.  R.F.P.’s Breckenridge Siding has met or exceeded all testing requirements.

Shear Values

SuperPly meets allowable shear values for wind and seismic forces according to the 1997 UBC.

Thickness Tolerances

Panels ¾” thick and less have a tolerance of +/- .0156”. Panels thicker than ¾” have a tolerance of +/- 3.0% depending on the specified thickness.

Flame Spread Rating

SuperPly flame spread is between 76 and 200 and meets Class C (3) index requirements.
